General Information and News - Rick and Bob visit these often

www.chesscafe.com
Bob considers this the first and best site to visit. There is so much free instruction here it is amazing!

chess.fm
A great site which has video and audio lectures, live or recorded coverage of major tournaments

www.uschess.org
The official web site of the United States Chess Federation. Contains news, instructional material, current ratings of players, and crosstables of tournaments.

www.chessbase.com
A great site for news and articles on the international chess scene. Chessbase is also the vendor of the premier chess database and the Fritz family of chess playing programs. Occasionally puzzles and interviews with today's top players are found.

www.chessgames.com
A great online database, with resources on everything from tactics to endgames. Also has live coverage of events. Lots of free material but its fullest potential is realized with a paid membership.

www.chessville.com
Lots of news and instruction available on this site. The best part is probably the subscription to the free weekly email newsletter!

Tactics and other instructional material

www.geocities.com/lifemasteraj
A. J. Goldsby (Pensacola) has a number of web sites devoted to chess. There is tons of instruction on his various sites.
I found this by looking at CJA awards for best annotation and web site online, and thought to myself that obviously a web based game annotation would be less detailed than a print one. Boy was I wrong! You have got to check out his annotated games section!

New! www.wtharvey.com/index.html
You can sign up here for an email newsletter twice a month with tactical puzzles from recent games. Or you can just click on your favorite GM to see try and puzzle out his finest moves. Give it a try!

www.clubs.juniata.edu/chess/live/chess_tactics.html
A great site with tactical problems and exercises.

www.professorchess.com
Lots of instructional material geared toward clubs with scholastic players. Requires a subscription for full benefit, but lots of free samples are available.

www.logicalchess.com
A site that has everything from tactics to endgame problems and exercises. It also carries games where each move is explained in the tradition of Chernev's classic work.

www.princeton.edu/~jedwards/cif/chess.html
A site entitled 'Chess is Fun'. Loaded with information on nearly every aspect of the game.

Openings

www.eudesign.com/chessops/ch-list.htm
The best site Rick's seen on the openings.

Sites of local interest

www.delawarechess.org
The official website of the Delaware Chess Association (DCA). Dr. Tom Fleetwood has done a great job of keeping it current. A good place to find information regarding local clubs and tournaments. One of the best features is the Chess Forum for a free form exchange of ideas on anything chess-ic! Also tune in each Sunday for the review of the week!

ncc.delawarechess.org
The website of our "sister" club, the Newark Chess Club. Although we aren't affiliated in any way, a lot of our stronger members have 'grown up' and begun attending their club on Thursday nights. Just a mile or two away from us, they meet in a church for a much longer time than we are able. The current president, Rick Lathem, has been a mainstay of chess in New Castle County for a decade or two. Tell them we sent you!

And of course ... US!
